Pat Shange passed away on Tuesday 13 July 2021 at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto due to Covid-19 complications.

The following is a transcription of an interview with him at Ezomdabu studios in Jeppe Street, downtown Johannesburg on 4 December 2009. It has been edited for clarity.

Actually to be honest with you, I started professionally - when I started recording it was in 1977.

But my first album was released in 1979. I can say that this year, 2009, I’m celebrating my 30th anniversary in the music field.
