According to his remarks in a variety of interviews, he became fascinated by photography in his early childhood because of his maternal uncle, who was a serious amateur photographer and self-proclaimed journalist of his hometown.

However, Gudzowaty originally set out to become an attorney, and earned an master’s degree at his Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. Afterward, however, Gudzowaty returned his profession, and began to take up photography full-time.

As a tribute to his accomplishments, Gudzowaty received high honors from both national and state organisations in Poland and abroad, among them his Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta which was presented to the president of Poland
